📢 FAI Junior Cup Result
Ballynanty 0 - 1 Mungret
A superb result out in Ballynanty park sees Mungret advance to the out of town rounds to face Dublin side Montpelier in May.
Mungret got off to a dream start when after excellent interplay between Kieran Long and Kian Barry saw the latter play through a superb ball for the on running Cian McNicholas to lift the ball over the advancing Balla keeper Tommy Holland.
Mungret had to soak up pressure in the rest of the first half but saw it out without clear chances being conceded, and saw us into half time in the lead.
The second half took on a similar pattern with the home team having a lot of the ball without troubling the Mungret rearguard.
A couple of half chances were superbly dealt with by Dan Doyle in goals.
Mungret could have punished on the counter through McNicholas and Sean O’Sullivan as the clock ticked towards 90.
8 mins of stoppage time saw Balla force corners and throw in but again without troubling us much.
A superb team effort starting with Dan Doyle in goals, and defence superbly marshalled by center back pairing of Aaron Long and Colm Barrett.
Everyone worked tirelessly and very hard to single out any player but fresh legs off the bench added needed impetus.
We look forward to the home draw.
Well done all, a Superb result!
